MADDSA Minutes December 8, 2005

I.                    DD Coordinator Report-Sandra Butts

Not attending due to another meeting

II.                 General Issues

A.                 2006 Schedule for MADDSA and where are we going to meet?  All decided UCP is a good location and 9am will be the time.  Perry Mueller handed out the 2006 schedule.

B.                 MTI-to invite Helene Nelson for executive breakfast to talk about

1.      ISFMR downsizing

C.                 MTI is looking for executive breakfast ideas/topic ideas with system changes and election times.   Scott Walker/Governor?

III.               Brief Reports

A.                 Treasurer's Report: Tom Nowak

1.      Website updated in last week

2.      Reminder that membership dues are $30 for 2006 due January 31, 2006

3.      $1599.79 Balance

4.      If cannot afford dues please contact Perry Mueller

5.      If interested in web link dues are an additional fee for training structure.

B.                 Training Initiative :  John Rathman

1.   Seizure Recognition 12/7

2.   2006 planning will come out in January they are coordinating with SE so there are no overlaps

3.   Julie Mlagan -new chair of MTI

                  C.        SE WI training Group: Martha DeGraw

                              1.   2006 topics chosen with tentative dates

                                                a. Behavioral issues

                                                b. Assessment

                                                c. Aging and DD training (repeat due to turn out )

                                                d. People caring for family members at home

                                                e. Dual diagnosis

                                                f. Health day (physical)

      2.   January 26 next meeting Ives Grove HWY 20 and I94 in Racine 2pm

                   D.       Transition Committee: Hope Lloyd: not in attendance

1. Fairview Brookfield is having a meeting in December 2006 for         families to understand and ask questions

                   E.        Transit Committee: Cheri Bruch

      1.   New Meeting location:3155 South 72d Street 1st Tues of every month Next meeting 1/3/06 9am

      2.   Transportation meeting and new forms to Website

      3. Shoveling and accessibility issues /made the news

      4. Interfaith is noted as a place to call for assistance in snow removal for elderly and disabled

    5. Check on ratio of rides /saved

                 F.    Health Disparities: Martha DeGraw/Perry Mueller

                            1. Main development: Healthcare tool kit(package)

                                    a. ensure consistency when a client transfers to other locations

                                    b. Doctor friendly

                                    c. Provider Friendly so it doesn't take pages to fill out

                                    d. Train and get the packet out there

                            2. New Physicians and dental training for DD and PD clients

                                    a. Training grant for such use

b. December 13, 2005 a meeting to raise awareness to members of          dental field

                            3. Bioethics-to look at end of life issues for disabilities

4. NEED stories to raise awareness(no names) just incidents and    details both good and bad-send them to Perry Mueller-Goodwill

    5. Next meeting 1/17/06 at Goodwill Vogel

IV.       People Can't Wait

            PFP/RFI state proposals

A.                 CCSB meeting :what are thoughts and $planning around managed care, partnership, capitated services

1.      Expand Family Care-with intent to make it an entitlement

B.                 Health and Human needs didn't discuss it

C.                 State has held public meetings Nov/Dec due to date 12/31/05 for RFP/RFI for care management proposals. State to select 1/15/06 12-13 proposals for state wide managed care program. (no option for county to have first refusal)

D.                 System change service delivery will change

IV.              Planning 2006

A.                 What will be put into place to protect individuals with disabilities so they don't sign away services.  Lets be ready for Geri Lyday's meeting and keep and agenda

B.                 Mark Laing:IRS to attend Jan MADDSA to help disability individuals to file locations to find for individuals to file

C.                 Mike Linach: DD Coordinator from state

D.                 Carmie:Transit issues
